SPRING BRINGS CHANGE
by Carrie Tynan

A
re you in a rut? Do you have the dole drums? Does every day seem like the last day? If your answers are "yes" then you need a change. Spring is here so crack open the cocoon and get out of your shell.

Make today your first lively day of spring by planting a seed and watching it grow. I have always tried to see change as a positive and not a negative. Change can bring many new and exciting experiences to your life. For example, in the past few months my career focus has moved away from working in customer service, where I formed some lasting friendships and learned many life lessons. The focus now is to develop my writing career, with the goal of helping others with disabilities similar to mine. It has been fortunate for me that I have become involved with several websites. They have allowed me to share my personal experiences, in hopes of making a positive impact on society. These websites, Inspired and this particular one, are excellent resources for people with disabilities.

At times, change can be very sudden and upsetting. The idea is to accept the situation and see what you can learn from it. A friend once gave me the advice that every thing should be looked at as a positive learning experience. Spring can also be a perfect time to learn something new to help enhance your personal growth. For example, I have decided to take up sign language with the help of a friend who is obtaining her bachelor degree in sign language. I also found an excellent resource on the web called Hand Speak. It provides an online sign language dictionary and other sources of information pertaining to sign language. Pursue that in the spirit of Spring!

The Internet is an excellent media tool for researching new ideas, hobbies and experiences. I know every time I am online, I learn something new or discover a way to use the Internet to my advantage. From publishing my personal experience articles to keeping in contact with family and friends, my goal for spring is to make every day a new adventure. I hope you will too.
